Firefighters entertain the kids
Every Wednesday the Georgetown Library hosts Early Literacy Storytime and often those events have a theme. The June 26 theme was Firefighter Storytime with a visit from members of the Georgetown Fire Department. Firefighters informed and entertained the kids with a firefighter dressed in turnout gear. They also let the kids handle the hoses, followed by coloring of fire-related drawings.

Sprint Car Challenge Tour returns to Marysville July 18: NorCal fires force transition to local speedway
Officials have announced an update to the Sprint Car Challenge Tour Western Sprint Speedweek schedule. Due to fires in the area, Yreka Speedway has been forced to cancel their previously scheduled event on July 18. The track is still able to hold this weekend’s Sport Mod event, however, once that is completed, a full fire camp will move in, making it unable to operate the dirt track.
