Envisioning safer streets: Blue Zones discusses potential walkability improvements for Yuba-Sutter
As a health-oriented initiative, active living and the ability to move naturally are core tenets for Blue Zones Project Yuba-Sutter. However, as Public Policy Advocate Eric Paredes explains, encouraging residents to use active transportation options can only go so far if they don’t feel safe enough to walk or bike on their streets. In order to address pedestrian safety and improve built environments in the Yuba-Sutter community, Blue Zones and other community leaders took part in the Safe Streets and Vision Zero Leadership Seminar on June 27 to discuss possible traffic calming measures and enhanced accessibility for area roadways.
