PALERMO, Calif. - CAL FIRE said that the forward progress for the Grubbs Fire in Palermo has been stopped. The evacuation orders and warnings have also been lifted for the Grubbs Fire. The fire was burning in the area of Grubbs Road. The fire has burned at least 10 acres.

OROVILLE, Calif. (AP) — Officials say thousands of people evacuated during a Northern California wildfire have been allowed to return home. A spokesperson for Butte County says the vast majority of people were able to go home Thursday afternoon. The Thompson Fire near the city of Oroville has stayed roughly the same size since Wednesday but containment increased to 29% Thursday. About 17,000 people were under evacuation orders or warnings earlier Thursday. The state is seeing more wildfire activity at this point in the year than in recent years.

Last night, the air in Wheatland, CA (about forty minutes outside of Sacramento proper) was coated in a thick film of humidity and heat as temperatures nearly peaked at 110 degrees. Northern California is in the middle of a massive heat wave, expected to extend throughout the holiday weekend and into early next week. Fighting off tremendous levels of heat exhaustion, thousands of Noah Kahan fans gathered together under the umbrella of a cloudless summer night at Toyota Amphitheatre to witness the singer-songwriter’s highly anticipated ‘We’ll All Be Here Forever’ tour. Even though it was difficult to stand in that heat for an extended period, Kahan put on an outstanding show for the NorCal crowd.
