OROVILLE — The Thompson Fire grew about 200 acres Thursday, but many evacuation orders have been lifted as the blaze appears to moving away from Oroville. The fire continues to burn and grew from 3,568 acres Wednesday to 3,747 acres by Thursday afternoon, according to Cal Fire-Butte County Public Information Officer Rick Carhart.

Oroville temporarily bans the use of all fireworks
OROVILLE, Calif. - The city of Oroville has temporarily banned the use of all fireworks within city limits, including the Safe and Sane variety, due to the Thompson Fire. The city of Oroville said firework vendors are encouraged to cease the sale of Safe and Sane fireworks immediately. Vendors who continue to sell Safe and Sane fireworks must post the Emergency Regulation prominently at the point of sale and must provide a copy of the Emergency Regulation to all customers purchasing fireworks.
