Jack Warren passed away peacefully early on the morning, Sunday June 23, 2024 in North Auburn, CA. Jack was born in Long Beach, CA and enjoyed the area through his young and teenage life. His family moved to Grass Valley, CA where his Father and Uncle owned and worked a refrigeration service business. Jack loved Northern Cal so he stayed. He attended Chico State and graduated with an Engineering Degree. While there he joined the gymnastic team gaining many skills such as climbing the stairs on his hands rather than his feet.

I want to publicly acknowledge my appreciation for the recipes that were provided by Gary Gilligan. I saw his goodbye message in the Auburn Journal on May 8, 2024, (“Saying so long to the column with 3 all-time favorite recipes,” page A2) and was sorry to see his recipes go. I always looked forward to them in the Journal and made many of them. I saved many of them in my archive of recipes (with his name accredited of course!).

She was born in Sacramento, CA in 1927 and lived in Auburn for all her life, apart from a brief time when she and her husband Richard (Dick) lived in Shaker Heights, OH. She attended Auburn Schools through graduation from Placer High School in 1945. She attended Lux College in San Francisco, CA and Placer Junior College.

A self-proclaimed foodie, lover of travel and the arts, she passed away peacefully on 5/24/2024 at home at the age of 89, surrounded by her family. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, she will be terribly missed, leaving a void that cannot be filled. However, her legacy will live on in all who loved her.
