A 43-year-old man is charged with making terroristic threats after police say he left suspicious packages at two locations and made threatening calls that led to the evacuation of a Walmart and a highway closure on Thursday.

Lake Worth police said David Scott, 43, threatened to set off explosives at a Walmart, which forced the evacuation of the store. They said he also left two bags at nearby locations, which led to the closure of Loop 820 north of Azle.

The incident began just before 12 p.m. Thursday when a suspicious package was found outside Richie Auctioneers located off Loop 820.

Police said the bags had campsite cookers inside, but until they confirmed that, they had to close the highway and other surrounding streets.
