Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has appointed Jerry Haag , president and CEO of the Lakeland-based nonprofit One More Child, to the Florida Faith-Based and Community-Based Advisory Council .

Haag was one of 11 appointed by DeSantis to the state board last week.

Haag is a member of the Forbes Nonprofit Council, the National Council on Planned Giving and the Christian Alliance for Orphans board of directors, DeSantis’ office said in a news release.  Haag earned a bachelor’s degree in financial planning and his master’s degree in business administration from Baylor University and a doctorate in finance and real estate from the University of Texas.

One More Child was previously known as Florida Baptist Children’s Homes. The nonprofit provides foster care and operates programs for anti-trafficking, child hunger and support for single mothers and families.

The Florida Faith-Based and Community-Based Council is expected to provide annual recommendations to the governor and the Florida Legislature on ways the government and the faith-based community can work together to improve social services.
