Changes To ACT Test For Michigan High Schoolers Coming In 2025
I remember being in elementary and middle school preparing for the ACT that I would have to take in my junior year of high school. My classmates and I were told that the skills we were learning from 3rd-10th grade would accurately prepare our brains for one of the most important tests of our lives. Well, they couldn't be more wrong since the state of Michigan switched to the SAT during my sophomore year of high school.
Should Brighton scale back housing density 'uptown'? Some on council think so
BRIGHTON — Housing density in "uptown" Brighton is back up for discussion. Some city councilmembers want to see it dialed back to fewer stories with larger setbacks from existing homes. Historically, Brighton is a downtown defined by single-family homes. Several years ago, city officials created a new zoning district...

SEC school trying to flip Michigan football commitment
Michigan football has pulled off some impressive recruiting wins, but one that has gone under the radar is the commitment of three-star wideout Phillip Wright. Wright is 5-foot-11, 175 pounds, and out of Destrehan, Louisiana. Whether or not LSU is recruiting an in-state kid is always a barometer. Wright was offered by LSU and the Tigers were in the final three along with Michigan football and Georgia.
Big Ten primer -- Michigan's greatest football moment
The Michigan Wolverines have been great from the very beginning. They had an unbeaten season in 1898, heralding what was to come over the next 125 years of college football. They won the 2023 national championship. They have more Rose Bowl appearances — 21 — than any school other than USC. They have fielded great teams in several different decades of college football history. What’s the one moment to pick from all of them? That’s a tough task.

Peace-loving folk singer quits race against Oakland Sheriff Bouchard but stays on ballot
Amrit Kohli of Ferndale in no way resembles a cop. Clad in sandals and a George Floyd “Say his name!” t-shirt, the Nigerian-born Kohli is a software contractor but says he much prefers living his dream: folk singer and peace activist. He favors total change in policing, starting with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. If elected sheriff, he’d put a stop to what he says is racist law enforcement and the pursuit of non-violent offenders. And he’d “defund” the department, diverting money to mental-health programs.
