One of two festivals planned on the eve of recreational marijuana sales in Ohio has been canceled, part of a dispute between organizers and local officials. A Pennsylvania-based company, Zick Productions, said its team spent six months preparing to launch the Ohio Cannabis Festival at the Summit County Fairgrounds in Tallmadge. Incarcerated Akron man indicted in fatal Ravenna overdose
A grand jury has indicted an incarcerated Akron man in the fatal January overdose of a Ravenna man. North Canton voters to see levy on ballot to build new fire station
NORTH CANTON − City voters will see a 1.9-mill levy on the November ballot to raise $16 million to pay for a new fire station. If voters approve the levy, the owner of a $100,000 home would pay $69.30 more per year for 25 years. A focus group of residents appointed by council members and the mayor recommended June 24 that council seek a property tax to pay for the fire station.

City Council on Monday approved setting aside $650,000 to relocate a storm sewer and waterline along Sixth Street NW and to start the design work of a streetscape improvement project along Sixth Street and Court Avenue NW.
