Intentionally Set ‘Park Fire’ Expands Rapidly to Over 160-Thousand Acres
More crews are racing to help battle what is now California’s largest wildfire. It exploded yesterday near Chico after sparking Wednesday afternoon and now tops 164-thousand acres. The Park Fire has forced four-thousand people to evacuate in Butte and Tehama counties. Some homes have already burned down but there’s no exact count yet. While downtown Chico isn’t threatened, the town of Paradise is after nearly being wiped out by a wildfire in 2018. Crews are also focused on protecting the small community of Cohasset.
California Recommends AT&T, Frontier, Six Others for $143M in Broadband Grants
The California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) has recommended a total of $143.3 million in grants to go toward broadband deployments to locations in the state that currently lack high-speed broadband service. AT&T was recommended for two grants totaling $18.1 million and Frontier was recommended for three grants totaling $22.9 million....

In his 2018 campaign, Gov. Gavin Newsom said he would create 500,000 new apprenticeships in the decade after taking office. So far, the state has registered more than 180,000 new apprenticeships. Many of them are firefighters.
City of Ukiah Parks Gap Analysis
The City of Ukiah is conducting a Parks Gap Analysis. The need for this analysis was identified in the City’s 2040 General Plan. The General Plan states the City “shall prepare a parks gap analysis identifying areas of the city underserved by parks and recreation facilities access.” Additionally, the “analysis shall, at a minimum, establish equitable access standards, including the minimum distance between parks and every residence, and potential funding mechanisms.”
