    North Shore boys compete at state tourney

    The North Shore boys competed at Humboldt High School this weekend at the Minnesota State Meet.

    Saturday morning, the level 5 boys started off with a bang! In the 9-10 year old division, Maks Watts (Minnetrista, 9) finished in 3rd place on high bar, 2nd place all-around and on parallel bars and was the first place champion for rings and vault, and a 1st place tie on pommel horse. Hudson Arvizo (Maple Plain, 9) finished 5th in all-around and high bar, tied for 4th on rings and 3rd on floor, and stood solo in 3rd for his parallel bar routine. Cable Farley (Long Lake, 10) in the 11 year division had a great showing with a 3rd place on rings and pommel horse, 2nd place on floor, high bar and all-around and was the1st place parallel bars champion.In the 12 year old division Benjamin Hallett (Minnetrista, 11) tied for 5th on pommel horse. Adam Labay (Medina, 12) had a stellar finish. Labay scored in the top 3 for all 6 events and the all-around. He finished 3rd in vault, 2nd in floor tied for 2nd on high bar and was the 1st place champion for pommel horse, rings, parallel bars and all -around with a 60.4. These 5 boys pulled together with some amazing routines and took the Level 5 team first place award! Way to go boys!

    The level 9s headed into the gym with some stiff competition but earned themselves some awards! In the 14 year old division, Tobin Dykoski (Minnetrista, 13) took 5th on vault and tied for 4th on floor. Owen Johnson (Delano, 13) earned a 5th place on pommel horse, rings, parallel bars and his all-around. Johnson also earned a 4th place tie on floor and finished as the high bar 1st place champion! In the 15 year division, Marek Dykoski (Minnetrista, 15) had a 4th place tie on floor and rings and stood solo in 4th on parallel bars. Oliver Berg (Mound, 14) had a 5th place finish on high bar and also a 4th place tie on floor. Joe Hartmann (Independance, 14) finished 5th place on pommel horse and his all-around. The level 9 boys finished with a 2nd place team award. Great job!!

    The level 7s finished off the first day of the State meet. In the 13-14 year old division, Zachary Potter (Delano, 12) tied in 5th place on floor, 4th place on vault and 3rd place on rings. Alexander Bartz (Minnetrista, 12) had an outstanding meet, tying for 3rd on floor, several 1st place ties on rings and vault and stood solo atop the podium as the 1st place champion on pommel horse, parallel bars and his all-around with a 65.600. In the 15+ division Peter Davis (Minneapolis, 15) had a 3rd place tie on pommel horse and was the 1st place rings champion with a 11.700. These boys worked hard and earned a 3rd place team award.

    Sunday morning the level 3 boys hit the gym. In the 6-7 year old division Grant Serum (Lester Prairie, 6) had a 5th place tie on parallel bars. Henry Hamilton (Minnetrista, 6) had a 5th place tie on vault and stood alone on the podium in 5th for his rings routine. In the 8 year old division Cameron Glad (Wayzata, 7) had a stellar meet placing in the top 5 for all 6 events and his all around. Glad had a few places that were ties: 5th on parallel bars, 4th on vault, 3rd on rings and a 1st place tie on pommel horse. Glad also took 5th on high bar, 4th on floor, and 3rd on all- around.

    The final session of the weekend saw the level 4 boys compete. In the 7-9 year old division Mate Toth (Orono, 8) rose to the challenge, finishing top 5 for all events and the all-around. Toth had a 4th place tie on vault, placed 3rd on pommel horse, placed 2nd on floor, parallel bars and all-around. Toth tied for first on rings and was the 1st place high bar champion. Bode Farley (Long Lake, 8) in the same division had a 4th place tie in vault. In the 10-11 year old division, Sam Tschimperle (Minnetrista, 10) earned himself a 4th place on pommel horse.

    Many of the North Shore boys team from levels 4-10 will be traveling to West Des Moines April 5-7th for the Region 4 Regionals Meet.

    North Shore Gymnastics Association, Orono, was founded in 1974 and is a 501c3 non-profit organization. It is the club’s purpose to acquaint children at all levels of physical ability, potential and growth with the sport of gymnastics in an atmosphere of safe, fun, positive learning and to help each child develop gymnastic skills, good sportsmanship, and discipline.
