    North Shore gymnasts take gold at Go for Gold

    Athletes from North Shore Gymnastics Association (NSGA) took home top awards this weekend at the Go For Gold Competition in White Bear Lake.

    North Shore Gymnasts in the Xcel Silver and Level 3 groups competed on Saturday, September 28, and the Level 4 group competed on Sunday, September 29. The athletes put on an impressive performance for the judges and took home the 1st place team award in both Xcel Silver and Level 4 groups.

    NSGA Xcel Silver athletes’ strong routines contributed to impressive results taking first place among the competing Xcel Silver teams. In the Juniors division, Grace Barsness (Medina) and Cygni Corradi (Mound) tied for 2nd place All Around. Grace earned four spots on the podium placing first in Uneven Bars, third place in Vault and Floor and fifth place in Beam, while Cygni won first in Floor, second in Vault and third in Beam. Eleanor Wagner (Mound) placed 4th All Around with four spots on the podium placing first place for Beam, second place in Floor, fourth place in Uneven Bars and fifth place in Vault. Charleigh Lefebvre (Annadale) placed fourth in both her Beam and Floor routines. Reese Moslander (Minnestrista) earned a spot on the podium with fourth place on Floor. In the Silver Middle division, Elise Marcouiller (Maple Plain) placed first All Around with first place medals on Vault and Floor, and second on Beam. Cora Wegleitner (Hamel) placed second All Around with first place on Beam and second place on Floor and Vault. Gianna Ellickson (Plymouth) won third All Around with second place on Uneven Bars and third place on Beam and Floor. Isla Soliday (Minnetrista) won fifth place All Around with third place on Vault and Uneven Bars and fourth on Floor. Alexa Walters (Plymouth) won fourth medal in Uneven Bars and Monroe Decker (Medina) took home fifth place in both Floor and Vault.

    The Seniors division girls took home the top award with McKenna Walsh (Plymouth) winning first place All Around and first place medals in Floor, Uneven Bars and Vault. Mackenzie Lewis (Plymouth) earned third place on the podium with both her Beam and Floor routine.

    Level 3 gymnasts continued to see medal success and took home a lot of hard-earned hardware. Leading off with the Juniors division, Joey Wood (Independence) won third All Around with a third place medal on Beam and fourth place medal on Floor. Tenley Marcotte (Maple Grove) earned second place in Floor. In the Middle Division, Kendall Matson (Mayer) won first place on Floor and second place on Beam and Uneven Bars, leading her to take first place All Around. Vailynn Jahnke (Mound) took first place in Vault and second place in Floor, while Aria Eng (Minnestrista) took first place in Uneven Bars. Gracelyn LePage (Buffalo) took fourth in Uneven Bars and Lydia Emery (Brooklyn Park) took fourth place in Vault and fifth place in Floor. The Seniors Division finished strong with Maddie Weinberg (Watertown) earning a second place podium spot on Beam and Kora Bennett (New Hope) earning fourth place on Uneven Bars.

    The Level 4 athletes gave a strong performance to wrap up the competition day. In the Junior Division, Chachi Denniston (Maple Plain) had an impressive first place All Around with first place in Uneven Bars, second place in Vault, fourth on Beam and fifth place in Floor. Ruby Kate Martin (Long Lake) placed fourth on Vault. The Senior Division led the podium with Beatrice Parks (Long Lake) and Alice Fogle (Corcoran) tied for first place All Around and Beam. Beatrice Parks also earned first on Uneven Bars and Fourth on Floor, while Alice Fogle earned third place on Floor and tied third place with Louise Parks (Long Lake) in Uneven Bars. Louise Parks also earned a fourth place podium in Beam. Alexis Pohl (Corcoran) placed first in Vault and second in Uneven Bars.

    The next competition will be the Razzle Dazzle Invite on October 12-13 at Shakopee High School.
