It’s Thunderstorms-Lite Sunday, then more widespread rain during the week
SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Saturday storms were few, but still with a few downpours. Ward Lake, on the east side of Bradenton, picked up over an inch (1.14″), the east side of Sarasota almost a half inch (0.48″) while SRQ stayed dry. We’ll see a few isolated storms again Sunday. A large area of dust from the Sahara moves overhead today. Fortunately, the dust will keep the tropics quiet for several days. As the dust layer dissipates during the workweek, a small disturbance in the upper atmosphere moves over Florida. That disturbance could make afternoon and evening storms more widespread during the week ahead.
