    BSM boys reach lacrosse final, girls to play for third place

    Benilde-St. Margaret’s reached the state boys lacrosse championship game on Saturday against No. 3 Lakeville North following a pair of convincing wins in the run-up to the final.

    The Red Knights (15-1) opened with a 16-7 win over unseeded Centennial (10-7) on June 11 before topping No. 5 Eden Prairie (11-5) in an 11-7 semifinal win on Thursday.

    BSM used a five-goal second quarter to carry a 7-3 lead into halftime and kept that lead over the second half as each team scored four times for the 11-7 final.

    The results of the final were unavailable at press time.

    Girls fall in OT

    No. 3 seed Benilde-St. Margaret’s was relegated to Saturday’s third-place match against Stillwater after No. 2 Prior Lake topped the Red Knights 11-10 in the state semifinal game played at Eden Prairie on Thursday.

    The Red Knights opened state with a wild 12-10 win over Elk River/Zimmerman on June 11.
