    Lakeville native Justin Loer drafted by Colorado Rockies

    Louisiana State University has produced high-end baseball talent in recent seasons and one of the newest faces in Major League Baseball is Minnesota native Justin Loer, who starred at LSU before the Colorado Rockies drafted him on Tuesday.

    Loer graduated from Lakeville South High School in 2021, where he was a First Team All-State selection after posting a 1.63 ERA with 45 strikeouts in 34.1 innings as a senior left-hander.

    At LSU, where he played one season after spending the previous two college seasons at Xavier University, went 2-0 with a 5.92 ERA, striking out 30 batters in 24.1 innings. At Xavier, he went 8-3 with a 2.41 ERA as a reliever.

    Loer was the 378th overall pick in the draft (13th round). Four rounds later, the Texas Rangers selected Eden Prairie native and former NDSU pitcher Joey Danielson .
