Rare Fungus That Kills Tens of thousand Of Trees Now In New York
A fungus that was first found in Wisconsin is now threatening trees in New York State. The New York State DEC wants New Yorkers to check on oak trees. "Be on the lookout for oak wilt throughout NYS! Have you checked your oak trees recently? Now is a great time to look for signs of oak wilt, a non-native fungus," the DEC stated on social media.

Listeria Outbreak Reaches New York State, Hospitalizes 7 People
A listeria outbreak linked to deli meats has sickened at least seven people in New York. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating over two dozen reported illnesses across 12 states. As of Friday, 28 people have been sickened and hospitalized, with the most cases reported in New York state, with 7 people hospitalized. Two deaths have been reported, one in New Jersey and another in Illinois. The first case was reported May 29, and the most recent illness connected to the outbreak was reported July 5. The patients range in age from 32-94.

Body of missing boater recovered after extensive search in upstate NY; identity released
The body of a missing boater has been located after an extensive search on Sodus Bay in upstate New York, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Deputies reported that the body of Rodney A. Bundschuh, 59, of Victor, New York, was found around 8:15 p.m. on Monday. A female passenger involved in the incident, Judi A. Bonk-Guy, 57, also of Victor, was pulled from the water on Sunday and remains in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
