DENVER (KDVR) — West Metro Fire Rescue assisted in the rescue of a kitten who had been stuck in a storm drain pipe for four days, according to a post by the department on social media.

“This is the tail (tail) of a kitten who’s used up at least one of his nine lives,” it said on X, formerly known as Twitter .

The rescue happened on June 27, according to WMFR.

The department interviewed two nearby residents, identified as Max and Kat, who said the cat had run into the pipe from another property.

The pair had been trying to rescue the kitten for four days before calling 911 to get help from officials.

WMFR was able to flush the kitten out of the drain pipe with some water. The department said a crew with West Metro Engine 3 and a Lakewood Animal Control officer were part of the rescue alongside the two cat-loving residents.

Max and Kat said they would adopt the kitten after its 10-day quarantine period is over.
