A baby has died after being left inside a roasting hot car in New Jersey . The eight-week-old baby girl passed away after being left inside a vehicle in Lakewood Township, Ocean County, New Jersey on Monday afternoon.

Avraham Chaitovsky was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child in relation to the two-month-old's death . The 28-year-old from Jackson Township is reportedly the late child's father.

Police rushed to the area of New Egypt Road after the alarm was raised of a "a paediatric patient in cardiac arrest ". Upon arrival, cops said they found Hatzolah Medical Services performing life-saving measures on the girl.

The measures were unsuccessful, though, and the baby was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators with the Prosecutor's Office, Lakewood Township Police Department and Ocean County Sheriff's Office discovered Chaitovsky's daughter, the baby girl, had been left alone in the hot car for an extended period.

"The act of leaving the infant in the car unattended for such a long period of time was the cause and manner of the infant's death," a news release stated.

An excessive heat warning was issued on Monday because of the heat and humidity which made many areas across the Delaware Valley feel like 103-106 degrees.
