Pioneer Fire expands to 29,994 acres, evacuation orders remain in effect
STEHEKIN — The Pioneer Fire burning in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest has grown to 29,994 acres, with containment remaining at 14%. Northwest Incident Management Team 3, led by Incident Commander Lonnie Click, assumed command of the fire operations at 6:00 am. State fire assistance has been mobilized to support the Pioneer Fire, with Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste authorizing the mobilization of state firefighting resources under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan.

Sand sculptors of all ages gathered at Olympic Beach Friday to compete for top honors in the annual Edmonds sand sculpture contest, hosted by the Edmonds Waterfront Center.
