Franklin County man accused of posing as CPS worker to assault children
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) - A Franklin County man is in jail following an investigation into children being assaulted by a fake CPS worker. According to a release from the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, a report came in on June 18 in their jurisdiction of a man impersonating a Child Protective Services worker to gain access to a child. The report said the man told the child’s guardian he needed to speak with the child, and was given access to them.

Lamar County Commissioners Court Grants Abatement
The Paris News reports that the Lamar County Commissioners Court has granted the Paris Economic Development Corporation’s tax abatement request for Project Blue Fire. However, after meeting with representatives from Bug Tussle Wind, LLC, the Commissioners took no action. The commissioners also extended the disaster declaration due to severe weather on May 8-9 to July 17.

Paris Police Report For Thursday, June 20
On Wednesday, officers of the Paris Police Department and Lamar County Sheriff’s Department, executed a search warrant in the 300 block of SE 16th Street. Upon executing the search warrant, they located several individuals inside the residence. The following individuals were found in possession of methamphetamine and arrested on view for:
Proposed Wind Farm Faces Lawsuit, Will Head to Trial
June 19, 2024 – Hopkins County neighbors take interest in nearby lawsuit outcome. A Cielo Wind landowner has been sued for their participation in the proposed Bug Tussle Wind Ranch that hopes to cover 30,000 acres across Fannin and Lamar counties. A neighbor of the potential 30-mile stretch of huge turbines has filed a lawsuit under the Texas Nuisance Law citing potential economic devastation and property value loss. Under that Texas law a nuisance consists of: “a condition that substantially interferes with the use and enjoyment of land by causing unreasonable discomfort or annoyance to persons of ordinary sensibilities attempting to use and enjoy it.“
