KPET-AM Returns To The Air South Of Lubbock.
Classic country KPET-AM Lamesa, TX (690), which went silent after station owner David Stewart's death last year, has returned to broadcasting after a year of being off the air. Stewart's business partner, Fred Morton, succeeded in returning the station to the market. “We’re just getting the place back on the air,” Morton told KCBD-TV. “But, we had to beat an FCC deadline to get that done, and that’s why I’m here in the middle of summer.” The 250-watt station, which was simulcast on the Lamesa-licensed FM translator K235CZ at 94.9, is back playing music, along with local news and weather information.
