Palmdale enforces ban on illegal fireworks with hefty fines
The City of Palmdale has announced that Safe and Sane fireworks booths will be open from June 28 to July 5. The booths, run by nonprofit organizations, are the only authorized locations for residents to purchase fireworks for upcoming Fourth of July celebrations. Residents are reminded that only Safe and Sane fireworks are permitted in Palmdale, except in designated No Fireworks Zones.
LAFD Holds Flag Ceremony for Fallen Fighter Andrew Pontious
A flag ceremony was held Friday for fallen Los Angeles County Firefighter Andrew Pontious, who died in the line of duty. On June 14, Pontious, 52, died while responding to an emergency in the Antelope Valley. He was a nearly 20-year veteran of fire service who had recently been assigned to a four-member fire engine at Station 93 in Palmdale.
