    Public Records: Fairfield County restaurant inspections

    The following are restaurant inspections with critical violations, as conducted by the Fairfield County Health Department from Feb. 1 - 9.

    Feb. 1

    Tim Horton's, 2053 Horns Mill Road, Lancaster. Observed a box and package of bacon in the refrigerator that was opened, but the package was not date-marked.

    Gypsy Joe's Ice Cream Company, 2237 W. Fair Ave., Lancaster. Observed live roaches in the front cupboards of the store. The person in charge (PIC) stated that pest control has already been providing services to eradicate the pests.

    Feb. 2

    JB's Downtown Grill, 111 N. Columbus St., Lancaster. Observed cooked whole potatoes date marked Feb. 1 at temperatures of 45 to 47 F. Ensure that time and temperature controlled for safety (TCS) foods are cooled to 41 F within six hours - corrected during inspection.

    Feb. 5

    Buckeye Care and Rehabilitation, 1900 E Main St., Lancaster. Observed a chemical in an unlabeled spray bottle - corrected during inspection.

    Target Store T990, 1300 River Valley Blvd., Lancaster. Observed a carton of milk that was dated for expiration on Feb. 2. It was located in the back of the refrigerator and had not been opened. The PIC emptied the milk at the time of the inspection - corrected during inspection.

    Subway, 200 W. Broad St., Bremen. Observed a small child in the kitchen of the food service operation.

    Feb. 6

    Tokyo Hibachi Carry-Out, 906 N. Memorial Drive, Lancaster. Observed chicken placed in a cardboard container before being cut into smaller pieces. Food contact surfaces must be cleanable and cardboard cannot be cleaned - corrected during inspection.

    Fiesta Tropicana Mexican Restaurant, 1236 N. Memorial Drive, Lancaster. Observed dirt spots on the ice machine ice tray. Observed many containers in the walk-in cooler with no date marking.

    Olivedale #1, 253 Boving Road, Lancaster. Observed milk date marked Dec. 24, 2023, and Jan. 27. Observed juice date marked Jan. 27, and gravy date marked Dec 28, 2023, in the refrigerator. Observed chopped lettuce in the walk-in cooler was not date marked. All critical violations were corrected during the inspection.

    Anchor Hocking Cafeteria, 1115 W. Fifth Ave., Lancaster. Observed meat slicer unclean. Observed cut lettuce and cut tomatoes stored in ice at 59.5 F and 55 F.

    Feb. 7

    Hoodster Inc./O'Huids Gaelic Pub, 167 W. Main St., Lancaster. Observed two jugs of buttermilk with an expiration date of Jan. 22 and Feb. 4 - corrected during inspection. Observed thawed meat patties date marked with the date they were frozen (Jan. 22) - corrected during inspection. Observed unlabeled chemical bottle - corrected during inspection. Observed mop hose stored in the mop sink.

    Ale House 1890, 149 W. Main St., Lancaster. The PIC was not aware of how to test the concentration of sanitizer in the warewashing machine, or what the concentration should be. Observed residue build-up in the soda gun at the bar - corrected during inspection.

    Feb. 8

    Mugshots Restaurant, LLC, 111S. Main St., Pleasantville. Observed no employee health agreement on file. Observed storage container of chicken wings with Dec. 26, 2023, discard date marked, located in cooler under dough roller. All critical violations were corrected during the inspection.
