    Weekly High School Roundup: Lancaster tennis wins Watkins Memorial Doubles Invitational

    Lancaster girls win invitational: The Gales won the Watkins Memorial Doubles Invitational on Saturday over Watkins Memorial, Big Walnut, and Reynoldsburg.

    Kaylee Akers and Kynlee Baer won the 1 st doubles division, Tori Wellington and Brinkley Conklin were runners-up at 2 nd doubles, Kenzie White and Vivian Worthington won 3 rd doubles, and Addy Brown and Ayla Smith were finalists at 4 th doubles.

    Hilliard Darby 4, Lancaster 1: Singles: Carrlene Webb (H) def. Kynlee Baer 6-2, 6-0; Kylie Morris (H) def. Kaylee Akers 6-4, 2-6, 6-4; Mia Prak (H) def. Kenzie White 6-4, 6-1. Doubles: Brinkley  Conklin-Tori Wellington (L) def. Halle  Atkinson-Madison Morris 6-4, 6-7, 1-0; Tess Ebenezer-Alyssa Stinemetz (H) def. Vivian Worthington-Ayla Smith 7-6, 6-2.

    GOLF

    FCA boys: The Knights won their sixth straight Mid-State League-Cardinal Division match with a team score of 332 at Turnberry Golf Course. Conditions were windy and there was a rain delay but FCA was led by Senior Harrison Teal with a tournament-low winning both the Cardinal and Buckeye Divisions with a 73. Sophomore Jonnie Sparks followed his strong performance at Crown Hill with an 82 to finish runner up for the second straight MSL tournament. Sophomores Connor Blair and Josh Witte shot 86 and 91. Freshman Reilly Brant shot 101 and Junior Joel Blankenship rounded out the scoring with a 102. The team results were FCA-332, The Wellington School-352, and Berne Union- 374 to round out the top 3 finishers.

    Lancaster boys: The Gales went to the Kent Miller Colonial Tournament held at Vernon View Golf Course. The Gales shot a 353 and were led by Gabe Betts who shot an 80. Ben Richardson shot a career low 82, Jacob Miller 94, Zane Brengman 97, and Bryson Branham 100.

    Lancaster played in the Golden Bear Invite held at Zanesville CC in a loaded field. The Gales finished 14th out of 16 shooting a season low 350. Jacob Miller shot an 82 to lead the Gales. Gabe Betts shot an 83, Zane Brengman an 87, Ben Richardson 98, and Bryson Branham 106.

    Berne Union

    Berne Union 183, Liberty Christian 185: The Rockets defeated Liberty in a dual match at Lancaster Golf Club.  Medalist for the match was Colt Ratliff with a 41.  Other scoring for Berne Union was Colt Probasco 46, Will Bolton 48 and Zach Hartman 48.  Berne Union moves their record to 16-4 on the season.

    Lancaster girls: The Gales topped Logan Elm 198-223 in a nonconference dual match at Valleyview Golf Course. Aubrie Bibler led the Gales and was medalist with a 43, and she was followed by Molly Stedman (46), Brennan Salapek (52), Nirvana Smith (57), Madison Barnes (62) and Rebecca Woody (68).

    CROSS COUNTRY

    Lancaster girls: The Gales competed at the OHSAA Early Season Meet. In the team race the Gales took fourth out of 33 teams. Young talent helped the Gales score big. Freshman Brooke Derringer led the Gales with her 12th place finish. Freshman Amelia Fries and Hadley Allen also took top seven places finishing 35th and 132nd respectively. Junior Harper Allen finished 17th, Senior Ava Parrett followed in 20th. Sophomore Ava Zeiders placed 133rd, followed by Juniors Alia Hopple in 210 and  Lily Carpico 232. Sophomore Brenna Jarrett rounded out the team race placing 261.

    In the open race it was Katie Coy and Mackenzie Rudduck who led the Gales placing 57th and 59th. Callie Kretzmann and Annabelle Walter placed 106th and 109th. My'Tayia Lucas and Savannah Bigerton finished in 141st and 188th.

    In the two mile open race Morgan Johnson led for the Gales finishing 29th, followed closely by Alayna Knoch and Chelsey Hunt in 34 th and 35th positions. Emma Loudon finished in 64th place followed by Zoe Fullen in 72nd. Annabelle Whitacre and Luna Safreed finished in 89th and 98th places to cap off a great day for the Gales.

    Fisher Catholic: The Irish competed in the Preseason OHSAA meet as the Irish girls placed 21 st out of 37 teams.

    Leading the Irish was sophomore Mary Grace Crabtree with a time of 23:13-67th place. Other Irish runners were sophomore Allie Krile-24:44-115th place, senior Maggie Murphy 25:37.3-155th place, senior Abigail Crabtree-25:49-163rd place and sophomore  Eve Ohwoforwaraye  26:01.9.

    The Irish boys were led by junior Roman Funk who placed eighth overall and ran a personal best time of 16:55.9 Other Irish Runners were junior Landen Funk-17:35.3-26th place and sophomore Noah Krile-23:31-308th place. The Irish did not have enough runners to field a team score.

    VOLLEYBALL

    Bloom-Carroll 3, Sheridan 0: The Bulldogs swept the Generals 25-18, 25-16, 25-15 in nonconference action.

    Evelyn Brown had 10 kills and five blocks, Corrine Knapp finished with nine nine kills seven digs and Madison Lacy added 33 assists.

    Fairfield Union wins a pair: The Falcons defeated Lakewood 25-19 and West Muskingum 25-10, 25-8.

    Christian Thompson finished with 28 kills, 13 digs and two blocks, Molly Brown had 12 kills, 10 digs and five aces, Payton Rhymer had 41 assists and 10 digs, and Addy Wolfe added six kills and four blocks

    GIRLS SOCCER

    Bloom-Carroll 1, Worthington Christian 0: Tessa Brooks scored the Bulldogs’ lone goal in their nonconference win. Lauryn Pinkerton had three saves and Hailey Magerko had two.

    Bloom-Carroll 3, Hartley 0: Tessa Brooks scored two goal and Cameron Hartsook scored a goal in the Bulldogs’ nonconference win over the Hawks. Lauryn Pinkerton and Hailey Magerko finished with two saves each.
