    High School Football Roundup: Lancaster uses balanced attack in win over Akron North

    Lancaster 38, Akron North 8: The Golden Gales used a balanced attack, jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back in their season opener against visiting Akron North at Fulton Field.

    Lancaster finished with 316 total yards, 151 rushing and 165 passing.

    Lancaster scored 13 points in the first quarter and 25 in the second to take a 38-0 halftime lead.

    Senior fullback Caiel Woody rushed for 68 yards on 14 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead the way. He scored the Gales’ first touchdown on a 16-yard run and then added two more scoring runs of 1 yard each in the second quarter.

    Junior quarterback Brody Burke threw a pair of touchdown passes, the first to Kaleb Santini for 56 yards in the first quarter and he connected with Andrew Whitlach from 25 yards out in the second quarter. Burke went 8 for 10 for 165 yards.

    Isaiah Sweatte added a 12-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Santini had two catches for 70 yards, Jack Pompey caught one pass for 46 yards and Kam Griffith had two receptions for 23 yards.

    New Lexington 49, Fairfield Union 7: The Falcons had no answer for the Panthers in their nonconference loss. No other information was available.

    Linden-McKinley 21, Amanda-Clearcreek 18: The Aces went on the road and fell just short in their nonconference loss. No other information was available.

    Newcomerstown 42, Berne Union 7: The Rockets fell behind 21-0 at the end of the first quarter and trailed 35-0 at halftime.

    Ashton O’Rourke scored Berne Union’s lone touchdown on a 12-yard run in the fourth quarter. Jarett Thompson led Berne Union with 38 yards rushing on 13 carries.

    New London 34, Millersport 20: The Lakers fell short in their nonconference loss against New London. No other information was available.
