    H.S. Cross Country Roundup: Lancaster girls, Fairfield Union boys place first at invitationals

    CROSS COUNTRY

    Lancaster girls: On Saturday, the Gales traveled to Claymont to compete in the Northmont Invitational. The Gales took the victory and did it extraordinarily by finishing with a perfect score. Marisa Heil led the Gales by winning the race. Harper Allen followed in second, Brooke Derringer in third, Ava Parrett in fourth and Amelia Fries in fifth.

    Hadley Allen finished in 18th, Ava Zeiders in 20th, Mackenzie Rudduck in 39th, Alia Hopple in 40th, Katie Coy in 50th, Brenna Jarrett in 54th, Callie Kretzmann in 55th, Annabelle Walter in 57th, My'Tayia Lucus in 61st, Alayna Knoch in 70th, Chelsey Hunt in 83rd, Zoe Fullen in 87th, Savannah Bigerton in 89th, Emma Loudon in 93rd, Annabelle Whitacre in 108th, and Luna Safreed in 115th. The Gales travel to the DeWine farm on Saturday for the Dual at the DeWine's.

    Fairfield Union: The Falcons had an outstanding race in the Newark Catholic Invitational as the boys team placed first out of 16 teams. There were 115 runners in the varsity race.

    The Falcons were led by Drew Walton, who placed first overall at 15:53.53. He was closely followed by Nathan Phillips in second (16:23.4), Connor Runkle fifth (16:33.1), Christian Reindle sixth (16:35.5), Cordel Runkle 13th (17:03.4), Connor Myers 17th (17:22.5), Andrew Ray 18th (17:26.8), and Ryan Boyer 22nd (17:29.4).

    The men’s reserve team placed second out of seven teams in the reserve race. There were 89 runners in the race. Chase Miller led the pack with a first-place finish in 17:54.0. He was followed by Ethan Phillips in sixth (19:52.8), Howard Bean 12th (20:25.5), Caleb Kellenbarger 13th (20:25.8), Colin Reindle 15th (20:36.3), A.J. Huntzinger 17th (20:56.0), Caleb Tiller 31st (22:06.4), Anthony Barnecut 43rd (22:58.3), and Kenseth Baumbusch 71st (27:36.9).

    The Fairfield Union girls team placed fifth out of 13 teams. The Falcons were led by Adelyn Winters, who finished sixth with a time of 20:39.6. She was followed by Abigail Pike in 26th (21:57.3), Ellen Morgan 38th (22:17.3), Claire Wilkinson 49th (23:29.5), Julia Widener 52nd (23:40.0), Annalese Berry 74th (26:11.7), and Arianna Tiller 79th (27:05.1).

    The girls reserve race had 98 runners competing. Natalie Hotrum led the way with a 48th-place finish in 27:53.8, followed by Alexis Mason in 71st (31:03.2).

    Liberty Union: The Lions competed at Newark Catholic's Run the Du Invitational. The girls team placed 10th and was led by Rachel Sponseller (31st, 22:08). She was followed by Taylor Jones (42nd, 22:48), Caroline Endsley (64th, 24:53), Emma Huntwork (81st, 27:07), Elizabeth Conn (83rd, 27:33), Hennali Haines (95th, 30:22) and Kathleen Slaby (96th. 30:47).

    The boys team placed 14th and was led by William McCreery (33rd, 18:17). He was followed by Charlie Sponseller (50th, 18:54), William Gonzalez (87th, 21:52), Levi Hendershot (91st, 22:16), Hunter Maddux (94th, 22:23), and Silas Kohler (109th, 24:05).

    Fisher Catholic: The Irish competed at the Newark Catholic Invitational at the Bryn Du Mansion.

    The Irish boys placed fifth out of 16 teams. Junior Roman Funk placed fourth with a personal best time of 16:29.4 and junior Landen Funk placed 12th with a personal best time of 17:01.2. Other Irish runners were Reece Hagy 18:19.1-34th, Corbin Stobart-18:50.3-47th, Nickolas Ristau-19:22.4-57th and Noah Krile placed 76th with a personal best time of 20:50.99.

    Leading the Irish girls was sophomore Mary Grace Crabtree placing 29th in 22:02.3. Other Irish runners were Allie Krile in 40th-22:24.7 and Abigail Crabtree 48th-23:28.7.
