    High School Roundup: Fisher Catholic football wins second in a row, tops Notre Dame

    FOOTBALL

    Fisher Catholic 31, Portsmouth Notre Dame 16: It took two days, but the Irish were able to finish off their nonconference road victory over the Titans.

    Fisher Catholic (2-1) led 7-0 Friday night before the game was suspended because of weather. The game resumed on Saturday afternoon, and the Irish dominated as they led 31-6 in the second half before the Titans scored a late touchdown. It was Fisher Catholic’s second straight win after dropping the season opener.

    There were plenty of outstanding performances for Fisher Catholic. Gage Armstrong rushed for 154 yards on 25 carries and a touchdown, with 104 yards coming in the fourth quarter. He scored on a 38-yard touchdown run.

    Cross Country Roundup: Lancaster girls’ cross country team places first at Watkins Memorial

    Grant Keefer passed for 119 yards and three touchdowns, Hyde ORielley caught a 55-yard touchdown pass, had a 3-yard TD run, and intercepted two passes on defense. Jayden Morales scored two touchdowns as he caught a 20-yard TD pass, had a 5-yard scoring run, and intercepted a pass on defense.

    After taking a 7-0 lead, the Irish fell behind on Saturday as the Titans scored to take an 8-7 lead, but it was all Irish after that. They led 13-8 at halftime and proceeded to score 18 unanswered points to take control. Fisher Catholic forced four turnovers and had four sacks.

    SOCCER

    Bloom-Carroll 2, Bexley 1: The Bulldogs pulled out a hard-fought nonconference win over the Lions. Tessa Brooks and Mackenzie Haslett scored one goal each and Lauryn Pinkerton had four saves.

    Bloom-Carroll 11, Circleville 0: The Bulldogs cruised in their MSL-Buckeye Division win over the Tigers. Savannah Wilde and Davynn Miller scored three goals each, while Brooks and Cameron Hartsook scored two, and Hannah Wilson added a goal. Pinkerton had one save in goal.

    Lancaster 4, Chillicothe 0: The Gales improved to 4-1 after their shutout win over the Cavaliers. Molly Stedman led the way with two goals.

    VOLLEYBALL

    Bloom-Carroll: The Bulldogs remained undefeated at 6-0 after picking up a 25-23, 25-14, 25-11 nonconference win over the Hawks.

    Evelyn Brown had 15 kills and five blocks, Madison Lacy finished with 40 assists, Sienna Hogue had 18 digs and Corinne Knapp added 15 kills and 10 digs.

    Fairfield Christian Academy 3, Berne Union 1: The Knights remained undefeated (4-0) in Mid-Sate League-Cardinal Division play after their 25-14, 17-25, 25-17, 25-21 win over the Rockets.

    Nakayla Cash led the Knights with 11 pts, four aces, 10 kills and 21 digs. Micaiah Herron had 24 pts, two aces, 10 kills two blocks and 18 digs, Samantha Rouser had 16 pts, four aces, seven kills, 18 assists and 34 digs, Zarah Roby had two aces, eight kills, two blocks and 16 digs, Katy Smeltzer had 10 pts, 10 kills and 19 digs, and Abby Heisner six pts and two aces.

    Knights defeated Harvest Prep 25-13, 25-17, 25-6. Katy Smeltzer had 17 pts, an ace, four kills, six assists and 10 digs,  Zarah Roby had 11 pts, four aces, 10 kills and a block, Micaiah Herron had 12 pts and five, Abby Heisner had seven points, three aces and three kills. Samantha Rouser had four aces, four kills and 20 assists, and Nakayla Cash had eight kills and eight digs..

    The Knights lost to Crooksville in nonconference action, 28-30, 25-18, 25-15, 23-25, 13-15. Sam Rouser had 27 pts., four aces. six kills, 13 assists and 52 digs, Micaiah Herron had 25 pts., five aces, 12 kills, one block and 24 digs., Katy Smeltzer had 18 pts. abd 33 digs, and Nakayla Cash had11 pts, three aces, seven kills and 28 digs.

    GOLF

    Fairfield Union: The Fairfield Union varsity boys golf team finished in second place at the MSL-Buckeye Division Match 2 at the Lancaster golf with a 344-team score.

    Isaiah Delong was the low Falcon with 80, followed by Eli Wolfe with 86, Caden Featheroff with 87, Dylan Chilcote with 91, Bryce Lepi 92, and Will Wolfe with 105.

    Lancaster girls: The Gales fell 215-225 against Logan at Valley View Golf Course. Aubrie Bibler led the Gales with a 47, followed by Brennan Salapek (54),  Nirvana Smith (58), Maddie Barnes (60), Skyler Smith (64) and Mya Gustafson (64).

    Lancaster defeated Canal Winchester 200-225 at Winchester Golf Course. Molley Stedman shot 40 and was the medalist in the match, and she was followed by Bibler (44), Salapek (58), Smith (58) and Barnes (63).

    The Gales defeated Bloom-Carroll 118-208 at Valley View. Bibler led the way with a 43 and was followed by Stedman (46), Salapek (48), Smith (52), Barnes (63) and Rylen Baer (67).

    Lancaster boys: The Gales played in the Pickerington North Invitational held at Pine Hill Golf Course. The Gales shot a 358 which was good for 12th out of 16 teams. Jacob Miller shot an 85 to lead the way. Gabe Betts shot an 86, Zane Brengman 93, Bryson Branham 94, and Ben Richardson 97.

    Fairfield Union: The Falcons competed in the Bob Darwin Invitational at Westchester Golf Course and finished in 13th place with a team score of 343. Isaiah Delong was the low Falcon with 80 followed by Bryce Lepi 85, Eli Wolfe 88 Dylan Chilcote 90 and Caden Featheroff 93.

    Fairfield Christian Academy: The Knights captured their third straight Mid-State League-Cardinal Division championship by winning their seventh consecutive league match with a team score of 331.

    Senior Harrison Teal led the Knights with a 79 and was the medalist for the match, and he was followed by runner-up and sophomore Connor Blair with an 80. Sophomore Jonnie Sparks shot 85 to finish in a tie for third and sophomore Josh Witte finished 6th with an 87. Freshman Jace Smith and Reilly Brant shot 100 and 102 respectively to round out the scoring for the Knights.

    TENNIS

    Gahanna 3, Lancaster 2 : Singles: Daniela Guzman (G) def. Kynlee Baer 6-0, 6-4; Kaylee Akers (L) def. Audrey Goh 7-5, 6-4; Kenzie White (L) def. Presley Porcher 6-3, 6-3. Doubles: Anna Damratoski-Paige Hochstetler (G) def. Brinkley Conklin-Tori Wellington 6-4, 6-4; Carolina McAuley-Ashleigh Witham (G) def. Vivian Worthington-Addy Brown 6-4, 6-3.

    Lancaster 5, Groveport 0 : Baer defeated Dia 6-0, 6-0, Akers defeated Wright 6-0, 6-0, White defeated Ring 6-0, 6-0, and in doubles, Conklin-Wellington defeated Maxwell-Blessing Brownell 6-0, 6-0Worthington-Brown defeated Dia-Amora Blackston 6-0, 6-0

    Pickerington Central 3, Lancaster 2: Singles: Sasha Bondartsuk (P) defeated Kynlee Baer 6-2, 6-0; Kaylee Akers (L) defeated Erika Stitt 7-6, 6-3; Kenzie White (L) defeated Avani Kondru 6-1, 6-4. Doubles: Abby Bechert-Kayden Ayisi (P) defeated Brinkley Conklin-Tori Wellington 6-2, 6-0; Julianna Savaille-Annecy Barclay (P) defeated Vivian Worthington-Addy Brown 6-3, 6-3.
