LANCASTER − A juvenile was arrested following an alleged bomb threat Friday at Thomas Ewing Junior High School.

The juvenile was taken to the Multi-County Juvenile Detention Center on a charge of inducing panic.

Fairfield County Sheriff Alex Lape said there were no injuries and no bomb was found.

The arrest followed an investigation by the sheriff's office and Lancaster City Schools. Lape said the county juvenile court then approved the arrest. He said unlike adults, his office can't just arrest a juvenile in such a case without following certain protocols.

Lape said after reading some social media comments, he thinks not everyone realizes that.

The incident is still under investigation.
