    H.S. cross country roundup: Fairfield Union boys and girls take home SE district championships

    CROSS COUNTRY

    Fairfield Union: On Saturday, the Falcons cruised in dominant fashion to secure the Division II Southeast district championship. Fairfield Union won the 24-team event by 71 points over the second-place team.

    All seven of Fairfield Union’s runners earned first team all-district honors. The Falcons were led by Andrew Walton, who finished first overall at 15:44.13. He was followed by Christian Reindle (2 nd , 15:59.92), Nathan Phillips (5 th , 16:23.29), Connor Runkle (6 th , 16:28.02), Cordel Runkle (9 th , 16:44.03), Ryan Boyer (11 th , 16:46.54), and Andrew Ray (12 th , 16:58.63).

    The Lady Falcons also placed first and won a district championship. Four runners earned all-district honors. The Falcons were led by Vera Henderly (7 th , 20:13.11), Adelyn Winters (8 th , 20:14.83), Claire Wilkinson (23 rd , 21:07.19), Abigail Pike (27 th , 21:13. 49) and Ellen Morgan (40 th , 22:11.37).

    The Falcons will now compete in the Division II regional at Pickerington North High School on Saturday.

    Liberty Union: The Lions competed in the Central District Division III district championships at Hilliard Darby.

    The girls team placed sixth in DIII Section 2. They were led by individual regional qualifier and all-district runner Rachel Sponseller (9th, 20:53). She was followed by Taylor Jones (19th, 21:52), Caroline Endsley (32nd, 22:39), Elizabeth Conn (35th, 22:56), Emma Huntwork (54th, 24:40), Kathleen Slaby (58th, 25:52), and Hennali Hanes (59th, 26:32).

    The boys team also placed sixth in D-III Section 2 and were led by individual regional qualifier and all-district runner William McCreery (7th, 16:50). He was followed by Micah Fisher (29th, 18:15), Charlie Sponseller (32nd, 18:28), William Gonzalez (60th, 20:38), Hunter Maddux (73rd, 21:51), Silas Kohler (74th, 22:02), and Levi Hendershot (78th, 22:53).

    Fisher Catholic: The Irish placed third in the Central District Division III district meet at Darby on Saturday and qualified as a team for the regional meet, which will be held Saturday at Pickerington North.

    Leading the Irish were the junior trio of Roman Funk, Landen Funk, and Reece Hagy who ran consecutively 16:30.7-3rd, 17:25.7-11th,17: 27.4-15th. Sophomore Nicholas Ristau placed 45th-19:07.9-Pr and freshman Corbin Stobert placed 62nd-20:44.9.

    The Irish girls were led by the sophomore duo of Marygrace Crabtree and Eve Ohwoforwaraye, who ran consecutively 21:14.5-13th-Pr and 21:48.7-18thPr. Allie Krile placed 38th-23:06.2, and the senior duo of Maggie Murphy and Abigail Crabtree finished their high school careers by running consecutively times of 23:10.5-41st and 23:22.3-44th.
