Current officials work to combat referee, umpire shortage
KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — There are four things you need if you want to have a sporting event. A location, athletes, coaches and of course, officials to make sure everyone is following the rules. Lately there has been a shortage of officials on game days. "MSHSAA(Missouri State High School Activities...
Cardinals rumored to trade Tommy Edman for Erick Fedde in 3-team deal
The St. Louis Cardinals are going to have to get creative with their additions this trade deadline. With so few sellers and a limitation on spending, John Mozeliak won't be able to simply ship cheap prospects for expensive veterans. Instead, he will have to finagle deals with other contending teams.
BBB issues scam warnings for college students ahead of new semester
JOPLIN, Mo. — The Better Business Bureau is back, this time with several warnings for college students preparing for the next semester. The BBB says one way scammers are targeting students is through phishing, through an email, pretending to come from the school’s financial department. The BBB says...
Cardinals in danger of giving John Mozeliak an excuse for quiet trade deadline
At the MLB All-Star Break, the St. Louis Cardinals were deemed definitive buyers, with president of baseball operations John Mozeliak determining the squad needed some starting pitching help, as well as an outfielder, bare minimum. Mozeliak has since changed his tune to finding 'small wins' rather than taking a big swing to get St. Louis over the hump.

Every NFL season comes with some certainties these days—from questionable officiating to inconsistent accountability to record-setting ratings. Cardinals parted with longtime reliever for the cheapest possible reason
The St. Louis Cardinals parted ways with Giovanny Gallegos, a member of the bullpen for the last seven years, in an embarrassing cost-cutting measure. Gallegos practically begged to stay in St. Louis on Saturday night but the Cardinals still sent him packing on Sunday. If it had been because of his objectively bad performances of late, it would have made plenty of sense. However, John Denton of MLB.com shed more light on the decision-making process and it's not encouraging.
