Sheetz to open Lancaster location on Wednesday at North Memorial Drive and Pierce Avenue.

LANCASTER − It's hard not to come across a Sheetz gas station/convenience store while driving in central Ohio. It seems like they have sprung up everywhere in the last couple of years or so.

Lancaster will get its turn Wednesday when Sheetz opens a new spot at North Memorial Drive and Pierce Avenue. It will open at 8 a.m. that day.

The company plans on a big opening day. Festivities will start at 9 a.m. with the official ribbon cutting at 10:45 a.m. Free coffee and soft drinks will be available all day. The company will also give away prizes, including the grand prize of Sheetz for a Year, as the company calls it.

The company previously said it plans expected to hire 30 to 35 people for the new store.

A Jimmy John's sub shop was once open on the property Sheetz now resides on. The Lancaster opening comes after the company opened a store at 8265 Diley Road in Canal Winchester in May.

Sheetz operates more than 720 stores across Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio and Maryland, with all locations open 24/7, 365 days a year.
