    Lancaster County’s Olympian archer Casey Kaufhold finishes fourth in Paris Games’ ranking round

    LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM)– Lancaster archer Casey Kaufield returned to the Olympics in superstar fashion by placing fourth in the individual ranking round to open the Paris Games 2024 women’s archery competition.

    Kaufhold recorded a score of 672 to place fourth in the individual ranking rounds on Thursday. Her score was only 22 points behind Lim Sihyeon of South Korea’s world record score of 694.

    Kaufhold is ranked as the world’s No. 1 recurve-bow female archer and is competing in her second Olympic games at just 20 years old. She competed in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, where her team placed 8th, and Kaufhold placed 17th individually.

    The women return to competition for the elimination rounds, which begin at 12:26 p.m. Paris time on Tuesday, July 30, and continue through August 1. The medal round is scheduled for Saturday, August 3.
