Jackets open cross-country season running away with North Carolina race (Aug. 24 Roundup)
HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. – The Fort Mill cross country team hasn’t missed a step since last season proving so by winning their season opener at the WNC Cross-Country Carnival. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams won the championship flight on Saturday, Aug. 24 at Jackson Park in Hendersonville, N.C. There were 27 different teams participating in the event.

Irmo Varsity Football Beats Oceanside To Begin The Season 1-0
Irmo starts the 2024 season with a 35-7 victory over the Oceanside Landsharks. The Yellow Jackets’ first TD of the season came after a long TD pass from Senior QB AJ Brand to Sophomore WR Maleek Miller for 76 yards. Irmo went ahead 14-0 after another TD pass by Brand. This time senior Joey Albritton caught it for a 22-yard score. Oceanside scored a TD in the 2nd quarter but Irmo scored again right before halftime after AJ Brand ran for a 21-yard TD. In the 4th quarter, AJ Brand threw a 3rd TD pass to senior Kyle Mitchell for a 4-yard score. Senior Anton Jones ran it in to score late in the 4th quarter to make it a 35-7 final.
