The Mount Pleasant Tigers, after finishing second in 15-5A, looked to shake that away and make what they hoped would be a lengthy trip through the 5A playoffs.

The Tigers opened their playoff run with a trip to Timpson High School to take on the Kingwood Park Panthers, a team who routinely looked to slow the game down and keep things low-scoring.

The Panthers were able to slow down, but not stop the Tiger offense as Mount Pleasant won the bi-district matchup, 46-37.

The Tigers drew a test in the area round in what would be a battle of state-ranked Tigers as the black and gold took on the orange and black Tigers of 5A’s top-ranked team, Lancaster.

Mount Pleasant battled with Lancaster, going into halftime down 18-13 and attempted to battle back in the final frame, but a 15-8 third quarter helped push Lancaster to a 53-38 win.

The Tigers’ season comes to an end with a record of 28-8 including a 10-1 record at home and a 7-1 record in true road games. Members of the Tigers were seniors Jordyn Hurndon, Chris Williams, Tre Williams and Kai Price; juniors Reggie Webster and Tanner Marshall; sophomores Decorian Thompson, A’Shad Smith and Carter Chism and freshman Zeke Hargrave.
