DAYTON — A Dayton, Ohio woman who allegedly ran a fake counseling agency scheme, was arrested Thursday at a Dallas bus station.

According to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, Janay Corbitt, 36, was taken into custody by Dallas police and U.S. Marshals, following an indictment on eight felony counts.

Yost's office's Health Care Fraud Section found that Corbitt allegedly stole the identities of multiple people so that she could open and operate two sham behavioral health counseling agencies in the Dayton area. She's believed to have used the identities of several licensed counselors — and used their credentials to bill Ohio Medicaid for services that weren't ever provided.

Investigators and prosecutors brought evidence before a Franklin County (Ohio) grand jury in May, leading to her indictment on eight felony counts:

    • Engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity
    • Aggravated theft of $1.5 million or more
    • Identity fraud against a person in a protected class
    • Two counts of identity fraud
    • Medicaid fraud
    • Two counts of forgery

Corbitt was convicted of theft in 2019 in a separate Medicaid scheme.

She was ordered to pay $204,412.02 to the Medicaid program and, to date, has paid only $6,255. The conviction banned her from the Medicaid program.

Yost said they are working to bring Corbitt back to Ohio.
