Northland Pines Clears Past Three Lake in Soccer Playoffs. Pines girls win their first round of the playoffs Pines 6 Three Lakes 0. The game started fast as we had the kick off and played the ball wide and got the ball into Three lakes box early. 12 minutes into the game Freshman Eva Gaetano went left to right and played a left footed in the corner. Although, we had pressure most of the game Three Lakes works hard and their keeper made some big saves to keep them in the game. 34 minute Ava Gaetano made a nice pass between the Defender and senior Zoe Anderson took a touch and beat attacking Three lakes keeper. One minute later Zoe took the goal kick off her chest and ripped a shot, attack goal got her own rebound, the keeper saved that one but Zoe’s relentless attack tapped her third shot in. The Gaetano-Anderson chemistry continues as Gaetano made a perfect pass and Zoe slammed a lefty shot in the net. Five minutes into the second half and we were able get all the players valuable varsity minutes. Zoe would finish her night with her huge goal onslaught when freshman Forwards attacked the left flank and made a beautiful square pas to Zoe who tapped in her forth goal. At that point we pulled all the starters as we knew we would have to recover for another tough game Saturday! In the 52 minute Senior Emma Weber passed the ball across the front of the goal mouth to an attacking freshman Ryley Darr to end Pines score and that is how the game would end with a 6-0 victory! Hats off to Three Lakes and a great season. These girls work hard and do not give up. Their keeper made a number of highlight saves!
WALK IN THE WOODS
On June 8, the St. Germain Chamber of Commerce hosted the “Walk in the Woods” art fair. Over fifty regional artists showcased pottery, paintings, photography, wood carvings, homemade candles and jewelry. Visitors had the opportunity to enjoy cheese and wine sampling courtesy of Lake Nokomis. Additionally, concessions were available from The St. Germain Lions Club, and live music was featured at the event. The Three Lakes Historical Society invites individuals to their Concerts in the Park series at the gazebo in Cy Williams Park in Three Lakes. This season commences on Tuesday, June 25 at 7 p.m., featuring GB’s Dance Band. The GB’s Dance Band is a 7-piece band featuring dance music.They play favorites from the Big Band era, Dixieland, Rock, Country and more. Three members of the Three Lakes/Phelps varsity golf team were recently honored as Northern Lakes All-Conference performers based on a statistical performance scoring process. Baseball Classic set this weekend
The Northwoods Baseball Classic (NBC) youth baseball tournament is coming back to Three Lakes June 21-23. A field of 35 teams spread across four separate age divisions will compete on four professionally maintained baseball diamonds at Don Burnside Park. Participating teams will play in a minimum of three games. The action begins at 2:15 p.m on Friday, June 21, and runs through Sunday afternoon. Concessions, raffles and apparel will also be available. Proceeds raised from the tournament help support park facilities in Three Lakes, as well as the growth and nurturing of baseball in northern Wisconsin.

Enjoy free concerts this summer from local and regional musicians. A recent grant opportunity awarded to the city’s Community Vitality Department by the Urban Land Institute (ULI) of Colorado Technical Advisory Panels (TAP) identified several revitalization suggestions for the University Hill commercial district. Recommendations from the panel were received in the form of a final report and will help inform immediate actions and long-term strategies to reimagine the Hill and the 14th Street surface parking lot. Recommendations fall into three categories, including better activating the district, enhancing connections from The Hill to downtown, and establishing a district identity.
