Meeting in Woodruff provides education on the electoral process
An event in Woodruff hosted by Keep our Republic aims to educate people in the Northwoods about the electoral process. Tracy Hartman, Oneida County Clerk, said, "We hear a lot of the voting machine is going to steal my vote, It's not secure we're gonna talk about that. The security that goes into the voting machine, the ballots that are used and how those all come together to make sure that the election results are accurate."
Eagle River farm anticipates strawberry picking season to start in June
EAGLE RIVER, Wis. - Clearwater Farms in Eagle River is expecting the strawberry picking season to begin in June. In a Facebook post, the farm said "strawberries (and honeyberries, blueberries and raspberries) are blooming! We anticipate being open for picking by the end of June. Stay tuned for further information!"

Orrin A. Nichols, age 86, of Iron River, MI, passed away at home on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. He was born on February 1, 1938, in Tipler, WI, the son of the late Charles K. and Edna (Diehl) Nichols. He attended school in Tipler and Stambaugh High School. Orrin married Melba Gill in November 1973 in Iron River, MI. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2023. (WLUC)

Our Savior Lutheran Church donates $500 to Backpack Program
Martha Society of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Eagle River recently donated $500 to the Backpack program. Backpacks are sent home on Friday with “child-friendly, easy-to-prepare” food items providing the necessary calories to help eliminate their hunger. Many of the parents are struggling to keep their children fed, so our goal is to provide food support on weekends. The church is always looking for food donations for the program. Land O’ Lakes celebrates Memorial Day
On Memorial Day morning, large crowds met at the Land O’ Lakes Oak Hill Cemetery to pay homage to those who serve in the military. VFW Post 8400 Honor Guard was in uniform as Post Commander Chris Cichy led the ceremony. Alyssa Imse of Land O’ Lakes began the event by singing the national anthem.
Poppy Day staged in Land O’ Lakes
There were a number of dedicated members who were outside the Pine Cone Cafe, Charlie’s Northwoods Market, and the Land O’ Lakes Post Office, as well as at other locations downtown during Memorial weekend. Their wonderful red poppies were on offer, as well as the ability for the public to make donations.

Members of the Planning & Beautification (P&B) committee and Historical Society purchased pine bark from Sawbuck’s, then spread it around the town hall gardens. P&B is responsible for some of the landscaping work that occurs in Land O’ Lakes.
Young anglers competed at Tackle Box Tournament
The St. Germain Chamber of Commerce hosted the Tackle Box Tournament on May 18, 2024. The open-water tournament brought anglers to the lakes of Oneida and Vilas counties. Award categories were for the following species in three age groups: Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth.
