Borough council passes vote of no confidence in mayor, votes down budget
BRADLEY BEACH — Amid financial disarray and lack of progress in the budget, Councilwoman Kristen Mahoney introduced a vote of no confidence against Mayor Larry Fox that passed in a 4-1 vote after the council voted down the budget at the Wednesday, July 24 Bradley Beach borough council meeting. While a vote of no confidence is non-binding, it is a concrete statement of the council’s dissatisfaction in the mayor’s ability, with several council members citing their frustration with Mayor Fox’s handling of this year’s budget prior to voting.

Phillies “Shimmy” to Sea Isle for Special Event Aug. 20
It seems that Sea Isle City is turning out to be the place to go this summer for star players and other celebrities from the Philly sports scene. After major events in Sea Isle involving the Eagles and Flyers in June and early July, now comes word that the Phillies are coming to town on Aug. 20 for a family-friendly celebration called the “Phillies Shimmy Down The Shore.” It is scheduled from 6-9:30 p.m. in Excursion Park.

A section of in Neptune Township that houses dozens of people experiencing homelessness may be on its way to shutting down after the property owner filed court papers to force them out, according to township officials. Swimming ban after bacteria found at Ocean County, NJ lake
MANCHESTER — Troubling levels of bacteria were found more than once this week at Harry Wright Lake. Escherichia coli (E. coli) was found at the site. Anything beyond 320 colonies per 100 milliliters of water is deemed unacceptable for swimmers, according to the Ocean County Health Department’s website.
Council approves cut-it-and-leave-it policy
POINT PLEASANT BEACH — The Point Pleasant Beach mayor and council approved a resolution supporting a cut-it-and-leave-it environmental policy in the borough, where homeowners are being encouraged to leave grass clippings on their lawns after mowing. This statewide initiative is intended to both save homeowners money on municipal waste pickup as well as divert the clippings away from solid waste streams, according to a press release about the resolution from the Point Pleasant Beach Environmental Commission.
