New artisan shop at Cabin John
Dov & Company, the newest addition to Cabin John Village, is a popup shop showcasing the works of local artisans. The store is run by Colombian-born sisters Maria and Sofia Tapias, who create jewelry from recycled silver and other upcycled materials. In addition to their own line, the store features handmade jewelry from other as well as handbags, kitchenware, home decor, stuffed animals, skincare products, clothes and other goods from D.C.-area artisans. There will be weekly craft workshops, and the store has a permanent make-your-own jewelry bar. You’ll find Dov & Company in the middle of the Cabin John shopping center, between Jurisdiction Clothing and Rewild. If all goes well, it will be there at least through the holidays.

Washington and Lee University professor of art history Elliott King was featured in a July 18, 2024 segment of the popular NPR show “All Things Considered.”. The roughly two-minute segment played an interview with King from an earlier NPR article titled “An AI Salvador Dalí will answer any question when called on his famous ‘lobster phone.’” The article and subsequent radio segment focused on how the Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, uses artificial intelligence (AI) to allow visitors to ask questions of the famed surrealist artist who died in 1989. Named “Ask Dalí,” this new museum installation features a copy of Dalí’s famous Lobster Telephone sculpture which visitors can pick up and ask a question. Maryland man and his dog escape through roof of trapped elevator
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (7News) — A man and his dog had to be rescued from a stuck elevator on Monday, July 22, according to the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad.
