Lane County opens large animal shelter amid High Prairie Fire evacuations
EUGENE, Ore. — On July 18th Lane County set up a large animal and livestock evacuation shelter for those in the Level 2 (Be Set) evacuation area of the High Prairie Fire. If you are located in the Level 2 evacuation area, you can bring your large animals to the arena in Howard Buford Recreation Area located at: 34901 Frank Parrish Road, in Eugene.

A brush fire that ignited south of the Eugene Airport on Monday prompted the rapid evacuation of Lane County’s major animal shelter. Around five p.m., 130 animals were evacuated from Greenhill Humane Society as the fire burned just 2 miles away. They returned to the shelter later in the evening after the fire was contained.
