LANGLEY, S.C. (WJBF) – Some residents in Langley, South Carolina are without water due to a water main break.

According to the Langley Water, Sewer and Fire District, crews are currently on-scene attempting to repair a water main break on Hubert Clay Road after a private company digging in the area ruptured the line.

Officials want customers to be advised that there may be an interruption to water service – while some may experience reduced pressure, some may not have any water whatsoever. According to a spokesperson for the water district, there have been reports of both.

Officials state that Langley water customers on and around Southern Avenue, Lakeview Avenue, Minter Avenue, PH Road, Carline Road, Crossover Road, New Street, Hillside Road, Jones Circle, Robinson Street, High Street, and Augusta Road from the 2900 block to the 3023 block are all advised that they may experience in either a loss of pressure or a complete loss of service.

Officials say that repairs are expected to take at least four or five hours.

The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control is advising the customers of the Langley Water and Sewer District located in Aiken County to “vigorously boil their water” for at least one full minute prior to drinking or cooking. Any ice made from the water, which has not be boiled, should not be used for drinking purposes.

At this time, officials say that there has been no confirmed contamination of the system – however, the loss of pressure means the potential for contamination exists.

If you have any questions or concerns, contact Langley Water and Sewer Office at (803) 593-3404, and if no one picks up, please leave a message.
