‘American Pickers’ Will Film in Iowa This September
Earlier this summer, the show 'Antiques Roadshow' made a stop in Iowa to film a couple of episodes. Now, another popular show will be returning to the state to film!. A recent article from the Iowa City Press-Citizen reports that 'American Pickers' is set to do some antique-hunting in Iowa in September of 2024. CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Cedar Rapids firefighters were on scene early Thursday morning after bricks fell from Ecumenical Community Center in downtown Cedar Rapids. Dubuque native, a UI engineering grad, is Boeing’s next CEO
A Dubuque native who led Cedar Rapids based Rockwell Collins for five years will become chief executive of Boeing next week. Robert “Kelly” Ortberg was CEO at Rockwell Collins from 2013 to 2018. Ortberg graduated from the University of Iowa in 1982 with a degree in mechanical engineering and got a job at Texas Instruments making semiconductors. Ortberg’s Rockwell Collins career started in 1987. At one point Ortberg led a division of the company that produced electronics and communications equipment for Boeing’s 787 “Dreamliner.” It’s a different plane, Boeing’s 737 MAX, that has sparked the company current safety and financial problems.
Dubuque’s Ginter Family Thanksgiving Meal Ends After 62 Years
According to a report from the Telegraph Herald, a longstanding Thanksgiving tradition in Dubuque is coming to an end. The Ginter family's annual community Thanksgiving dinner, which has been providing free meals since 1961, will no longer be held. Donna Ginter first invited a group of truckers to her home for Thanksgiving. That tradition quickly grew into a significant community event for Dubuque.
Twin Cities-area man takes plea deal on North Iowa gun crime
MASON CITY, Iowa – A plea deal is reached by a Minnesota man facing gun and drug charges in Cerro Gordo County. Anthony Michael Jungk, 36 of Brooklyn Park, MN, has pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm as a felon. Charges of person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons and possession of marijuana-1st offense will likely be dismissed when Jungk is sentenced, which is scheduled for August 26.
Bellevue asks to dismiss lawsuit
Attorneys representing the city of Bellevue recently filed a motion to dismiss all charges and complaints concerning a lawsuit against the Bellevue Police Department. The motion, made by attorneys from Lynch Dallas P.C. of Cedar Rapids, was filed July 12 in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Iowa and suggested all counts be dismissed.
