Quiet night ahead, more heat, humidity and storm chances Thursday
It was an interesting day for July’s last day. A few rounds of storms occurred in a few hometowns. But other hometowns didn’t receive a single drop. This is very typical of the ring of fire pattern we’re in thanks to the clusters of storms. Indianapolis also took a little while longer to heat thanks to the extended cloud cover of the day. We aren’t done with the heat, humidity and storms yet August opens Thursday.

‘American Pickers’ Will Film in Iowa This September
Earlier this summer, the show 'Antiques Roadshow' made a stop in Iowa to film a couple of episodes. Now, another popular show will be returning to the state to film!. A recent article from the Iowa City Press-Citizen reports that 'American Pickers' is set to do some antique-hunting in Iowa in September of 2024. Iowa had 23.9%, while Vermont had the most with 25.6%.Threat level: Businesses factor in their ability to attract and retain workers when locating or exciting locations, Orazem said.Workforce retention and attraction were the top concerns among Iowa executives in a recent Economic Outlook Survey from the Iowa Business Council, the DSM Register reports.The big picture: It's not uncommon these days for older Americans to stay in the workforce, particularly in states with older populations.Today's older workers are better educated, work more hours and are more likely to receive employer benefits, compared to past decades, per a 2023 Pew Research Center report.Read more

AMA Iowa names winners of annual marketing awards
The Iowa Chapter of the American Marketing Association announced the winners of its 19th annual NOVA Awards during a ceremony held on July 17 at the Krause Gateway Center in Des Moines. Iowa companies’ marketing efforts were recognized with awards for categories including branding, data analytics and marketing research, integrated marketing campaign and marketing communications. “Every year, marketing teams across the state of Iowa design and execute the most creative and impactful marketing initiatives,” AMA Iowa President Ben Currie said in a prepared statement. “Teams use various data and multiple marketing channels to reach customers. The NOVA Awards recognize the best of those initiatives based upon various criteria.” The full list of award winners is available on the AMA Iowa website.
