Public is invited to free 'Monarch Blitz' butterfly event in Jackson County, Iowa
MAQUOKETA, Iowa — Get ready to spot some butterflies!. Every summer, for 10 days between July and August, people across Canada, Mexico and the United States are encouraged to head outside and count monarch butterflies, milkweed plants and monarch eggs, caterpillars and chrysalises. Findings from this "Monarch Blitz" can then be shared with a participating community science program.

St. Ambrose University and Mount Mercy University enter into new strategic agreement, marking intent to combine
The two institutions will build upon prior collaborations in a new vision for Catholic higher education. St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, and Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, are poised to expand academic offerings, athletic programs and innovative opportunities for students of both universities through the signing of a strategic agreement. EVANSDALE, Iowa (KCRG) - HBO Max is set to release a three-part documentary series about the abduction and deaths of Evansdale cousins Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins. Eight-year-old Elizabeth Collins and 10-year-old Lyric Cook disappeared on July 13, 2012, while riding their bikes in Evansdale. Investigators found their bikes but no sign of the children.

Collision in southeast Minnesota injures northeast Iowa woman
HOUSTON COUNTY, Iowa – A northeast Iowa woman was hurt in a two-vehicle collision in southeast Minnesota. The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened on Highway 44 near Indian Springs Road. A 2015 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Allyvia Lucille Martin, 21 of Lansing, IA, and a 2024 GMC Yukon driven by Steven Scott Redford, 74 of Branson, Missouri, were both heading south when they crashed around 11 am Wednesday.
