The former space for Spiral, a long-time LGBTQ+ club in Lansing’s Old Town at 1247 Center St , is being transformed into an all-inclusive event venue called Copper Moon by Bath couple Lynn Lucas and Matt Schultheiss , who also own and operate W.E.D. , an event business and DJ service company. The venue is anticipated to open this spring.

The nearly 5,000-square-foot building has remained vacant since Spiral closed in the spring of 2020. The building had what the couple needed to build their ideal event space, especially the industrial touches that are widely appreciated by many in the area.

Copper Moon will provide a new option for those looking for an inner city wedding venue, but will also have the potential to host other types of events, such as meetings, celebrations, and fundraisers. The venue will contain a bar, prop closet, and courtyard.

The couple are in the process of buying the property. They plan to spend approximately $20,000 on upgrades and renovations for space. Construction will start this month and Copper Moon could open as early as this March.
