Lansing Lugnuts pitcher Luis Morales will have an opportunity to showcase his talent on a major stage.

Morales, who is ranked the Oakland Athletics' top pitching prospect, has been selected by Major League Baseball to play in the All-Star Futures Game on July 13 (4 p.m., MLB Network) at Globe Life Field in Texas. He is the lone Oakland prospect selected to play in the game and was one of nine pitchers on the American League team.

The 21-year old right-handed pitcher is the fifth active Lugnuts player selected to play in the event and the first since outfielder Denzel Clarke in 2022. Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero, who are now starring for the Toronto Blue Jays, and Angel Perdomo are the other active former Lugnuts who have played in the Futures Game.

Morales, who is ranked the No. 2 prospect in Oakland's minor league system by MLB Pipeline, has struck out 41 and walked 16 in 38 1/3 innings while making 11 starts for Lansing.

Morales is part of an American League roster that also features top Detroit Tigers prospects in outfielder Max Clark and infielder Hao Yu-Lee.
