LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department has released dash cam footage from a high-speed chase Tuesday.
The chase began in Ingham County with two terminated high-speed chases, then picked up in Livingston County after Ingham County found the suspect had dumped the green Ford Crown Victoria he had been driving and forced a homeowner on M-52 to hand over the keys of her white GMC truck.
The video shows Michigan State Police troopers attempting to stop the Genesee County man in the stolen truck, but he speeds away.
The video cuts to show the vehicle after the man drove the truck over stop sticks, a device designed to puncture tires and slow a vehicle during a pursuit. Parts of the truck’s tires can be seen falling off as it weaves through traffic, with what one deputy describes as “heavy smoke” trailing from the truck.
From that video to another cut where the truck can be seen with both driver’s side tires deflated and the truck driving in the lane for opposing traffic. The driver narrowly misses a head-on collision with a semi-truck.
Yet another cut shows the vehicle being pursued through a small retail area, then cuts to video of the vehicle nearly hitting another semi-truck.
The video then shows the truck driving in the far right lane of the road, then losing control and swerving across traffic, including in front of the patrol vehicle. The truck then smashes head-on into an SUV.
Video shows officers moving the citizens from the SUV to safety and then the arrest of the man.
