LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – AAA predicts more than 2.6 million Michiganders will drive 50 miles or more to celebrate the 4th of July this year, which has many people choosing to hang out at home instead.

If you plan to stay in Mid-Michigan for the holiday, the city of Lansing has you covered with plenty of things to do on Thursday.

The city’s 4th of July celebration will kick off at 11 a.m. Thursday with its Independence Day Parade at the Capitol Loop.

Later Thursday evening, it’s hosting a 4th of July concert at Adado Riverfront Park. The concert starts at 8 p.m. with fireworks to follow.

6 News anchor Megan Viecelli sat down with Emily Stevens, the manager of leisure services for the city of Lansing’s Parks and Recreation Department, to get the details.
