LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Quiet and mostly dry conditions continue for the holiday however rain returns to the forecast for the upcoming weekend.

While we are seeing a beautiful start to Independence Day with plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s, clouds will start to increase thanks to a low-pressure system way off to our west.

High temperatures for the fourth will be warm into the low to mid-80s with partly to mostly cloudy skies after the lunchtime hour. There is a slight chance for an isolated scattered sprinkle here and there but the majority of the area stays dry.

Any outdoor festivities tonight should remain rain-free and dry. Overnight lows will drop again into the upper 60s with mostly cloudy skies tonight.

Showers and stormy weather increase as we head into the end of the week and into the upcoming weekend. Friday has multiple chances to see showers mainly in the morning and afternoon. For now, these look to be non-severe. Temperatures for Friday will be in the upper 70s to low 80s which is slightly below average for this time of year.

Saturday showers return for the morning hours and could be light throughout the day, temperatures remain cooler into the 70s for Saturday before climbing back into the low 80s for Sunday with mostly sunny skies and dry weather. As we head into the next work week we see an unsettled pattern with multiple chances for showers and cooler temperatures in the forecast.
