LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Summer is in full swing, the bees are abuzz and the flowers are abloom.

Organizers at Lansing’s Casa de Rosado Galeria & Cultural Center don’t want you to miss a free drop-in session at the Xochitlo Conuco Garden.

You can still drop in and catch some of the action until 4 p.m. this Sunday.

Sessions are free. “Dress to make a mess,” organizers said.

“The Xochitlo Conuco Garden is a celebration of our ancestors, the native people of the Americas and the Caribbean, featuring plants that the Aztecs, Mayans, Tainos, Potowatomi and Ojibway first domesticated for many uses,” organizers said.

In the free print session, you can learn about traditional uses of these local flora, and experiment with lifting leaves and flowers on gelli plates from the garden.

Organizers said the session will move indoors if weather doesn’t cooperate this weekend.

As a warning–Xochitlo Conuco Garden is an active pollinator garden, so bees will be around. Anyone who’s allergic to bees, pollinators or plants should use caution, they said.

Casa de Rosado Galeria & Cultural Center is at 204 E. Mt. Hope Avenue in Lansing.
